Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564.Shakespear wrote plays and poetry. Shakespeare, for poetry wrote beauty and love in poetry. Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616. ReplyDeleteThe three poets I chose to do this homework assignment are Alfred Lord Tennyson, Henrick Ibsen, and Mark Twain. Alfred Lord Tennyson was a poet writer of the United Kingdom during the reign of Queen Victoria and also one of the most famous poets in English Literature. He continued and followed the traditions of Romantic Movement left to him by his predecessors, Wordsworth, Byron and Keats. His poetry was considered remarkable for its variety, rich imagery and melodies. Henrick Ibsen was a famous Norwegian playwright, theatre director, and poet, he is often considered as "the father" of modern theater and one of the founders of Modernism in the theatre. Ibsen is often ranked as one of the greatest playwrights in the European literature, also perhaps the greatest playwright since Shakespeare. Mark Twain was an American author, essayist, lecturer and humorist who wrote a series of famous books including Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Mark's first important work, The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County was first published in the New York Saturday Press and became a bestseller within a short span of time. The poem i liked the most was mountain life by Henrick Ibsen because it talked about how great it was to be free and it was almost like heaven. It also was rhyming.

My two favorite poets are E.E. Cummings and Maya Angelou. The best poem out of both poets I think is I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. It is about a caged up bird that has nothing to do so it sings. She was born on April 4, 1928. She started poerty at the age of eight after she was raped by her mother's boyfriend, who was subsequently killed by her uncles. The event caused to go mute for nearly six years including her teens and early twenties which were spent as a dancer. E.E. Cummings wrote poems that people often use in funerals. He was born on October 14, 1894 and died on September 3, 1962.Cummings' poetry uses colloquial language to convey strong romantic sentiments. some famous poems he wrote are I Carry Your Heart With Me and A Pretty A Day.
